The Coronavirus havoc in China did not end well enough and now the Hantavirus has killed a person. This news caused worldwide panic and people are also wary about this new virus. Everyone has a fear in their mind that the virus too may not wreak havoc like Coronavirus. In fact, the world has been trying to overcome the SantaS C0v-2 caused by the Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). The same virus also causes hemorrhagic fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS).
Hantavirus is spread by munching animals, mainly mice. Infection of the virus is caused by eating mice or coming into contact with its stool and urine etc. It also spreads to each other through air. This happens when the feces and urine of the mice reach through the air and infect a person. Although animals like mice do not usually bite people, the infection can spread even if a rat infected with the virus is bitten by a human. A major means of spreading the virus is exposure of mice to the place of feces and urine. Rats eat something and if humans come in contact with their shoes, there is a risk of infection with the Huta virus.
More About HantaVirus
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “the virus that can make people sick in America cannot spread from person to person.” This means that by touching or kissing the person suffering from HPS or coming in contact with health workers who treat it, you cannot get an infection of the Huta virus. However, in Chili and Argentina there were cases of other viruses such as the Hanta virus being transmitted from human to human. The name of that virus is Andes virus.
Symptoms and treatment of Hanta Virus
Symptoms of Hantavirus infection may take up eight weeks to show up. It can cause headache, dizziness, chills and stomach problems in addition to fatigue, fever and muscle aches to the infected person which includes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Later the infected person also has breathing problems.
The whole world is facing the havoc of the Corona virus, meanwhile many kinds of questions are being asked in China after the death of a person from the Laughing virus. Understand in this video, what exactly is the laughing virus and is it as deadly as corona?
There is no well-known treatment for HPS, nor is there any vaccine to control it. If detected at the beginning of the infection, the patient is given relief from breathing problem by giving oxygen therapy. People infected with HFRS have to drink enough water and maintain electrolyte levels as well as oxygen and blood pressure levels. The CDC recommends that the anti-viral drug ribavirin be given inside the nuns at an early stage of infection.
How dangerous is the Hantavirus?
So far, 38% of people suffering from HPS, a disease caused by Hanta virus, have died. At the same time, death from HFRS depends on which type of virus caused the disease. 1 to 15 percent of the victims of this disease die.
